Remember being envious of those who were able to attend Coachella while you were sitting at home? Yeah, I can relate! 😉 Since then my ultimate goal had been to find an adequate festival to compensate for my coachella-absence. Luckily, I got invited to Hell/Dunkel Open Air.
It’s been two years since the last Hell/Dunkel Open Air Festival opened its doors. In previous years it took place at Blaue Lagune in Wachtendonk and at Rheinbahnpark in Neuss. Last year, it had been canceled. The organizers simply didn’t want to accept any compromises in respect to location anymore. They’ve struggled to find a proper place last year, but didn’t disappoint with their comeback last weekend at Unterbacher See in Düsseldorf.
And the weather couldn’t have been better. Thus, outfit choice was a no brainer: shorts, shirt, sunglasses and we were off to a great day with an awesome lakeside view. Oliver and I arrived early afternoon. The festival wasn’t too crowded at that point so we were able to fully explore the premises while enjoying a cool drink.
A few drinks, a vegan burger and a frozen yogurt later, we found ourselves either in front of the Hell or Dunkel Stage, dancing and listening to some great tunes. No wonder, as the line-up was comprised of internationally renowned acts such as RECONDITE, MANO LE TOUGH, DJ HELL, DANIEL BORTZ, KONSTANTIN SIBOLD, BAIKAL, EAGLES & BUTTERFLIES, KIMOU and many more.
We certainly enjoyed ourselves and we are already looking forward to the next Hell/Dunkel Festival on 11.03.2017 in Willingen/Ettelsberg. Will you be there?
